The scientific topics in the group of professor Richter are the optical and electronic properties of surfaces and epitaxial structures. Our research extents beyond the properties of certain reconstructed surfaces to understand of influence of surfaces on the growth processes, and the formation of structures on a nanometer scale.

We employ both Metal Organic Vapour Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE) and Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) for the epitaxial growth. This combination allows for comparable measurement using new optical and more "standard" electron based characterisation tools.
